Women in Construction Week – Meet Liliya

8th March 2024

For Women in Construction Week 2024, we’re proud to highlight the vital contributions women have to our work here at ISC. In roles all across the business, women are essential to our company’s success.

This year’s theme, ‘Keys to the Future’, celebrates the strength and knowledge of women and the vital role they play in shaping the future of the construction industry. This provides the opportunity to acknowledge and appreciate the vital role that female talent plays in driving performance, shaping workplace change and influencing the future of the construction industry.

“While construction has traditionally been a male-dominated field, that is rapidly changing as more women pursue rewarding careers in this dynamic industry said Managing Director Darren Quinton. ”At ISC, we’re committed to supporting and empowering our talented female team members at every level.”

One of the rising stars in our ranks is Liliya, a Trainee Quantity Surveyor making her mark through keen attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and a passion for her work. In this spotlight, we’ll introduce you to Liliya and explore her journey into construction.

Having joined ISC as a Commercial Assistant in September 2022, Liliya brings with her a background in finance spanning eight years. While her initial career path led her into the finance industry, the opportunity to join ISC presented a chance for Liliya to explore her long-standing passion for construction and embark on a new professional adventure.

In her role at ISC, Liliya oversees cost management for various projects nationwide. Navigating into construction was made easier with the support of her ISC colleagues. Liliya reflects, “ISC team members have been incredibly supportive. Working alongside experienced Quantity Surveyors, I’ve received invaluable guidance and assistance. Now, as I tackle monthly reporting, costs hold more meaning, and I’m equipped with a deeper understanding of their significance. I was also given a great opportunity to be able to help manage a small project, with the supervision of an experienced QS.”

Driven by a desire to expand her knowledge and skills, Liliya aspires to progress as a qualified Quantity Surveyor for ISC in the future.

Liliya is just one example of the incredible women strengthening our team and the construction industry at large. Join us as we empower women, recognising their contribution to the changing world around us, and advocating for greater gender balance to build a more inclusive industry that benefits everyone.
