About

At ISC, we’ve embarked on a remarkable journey that spans decades, driven by a commitment to excellence, innovation, and evolution.

ISC

Committed to excellence, innovation and evolution since 1972

Our story began in 1972 when we previously traded as Walsh, and quickly established ourselves as London’s leading provider of bulk freight solutions – by road, river and rail, plus waste management.

In 2017, a new chapter in our history unfolded when Walsh became a proud member of the GRS Group – a renowned name in Britain’s construction industry. The GRS Group specialises in trading and transporting construction aggregates, building products, and waste materials across the UK. This partnership brought together the collective strength of two industry giants, setting the stage for even greater achievements.

GRS is the UK’s largest independent supplier of construction materials, from low-carbon recycled aggregates and decorative landscaping products to high-volume bulk aggregates for some of the UK’s biggest construction projects.

Our Vision

To construct a legacy of excellence - for our people, our projects and our planet.

Our Mission

We’re building a workforce that transcends expectations, setting new industry standards for quality, innovation and sustainability.

Our Purpose

To develop high-performing people who deliver successful projects, forging lasting partnerships with clients based on trust and shared success.

About us

NO HARM. DONE.

The safety, health and wellbeing of our people and those we work with is paramount at ISC and the GRS Group.

We’re determined to ensure that not only do we offer great customer service, but we do so in a responsible manner that results in no harm to people, property or the environment. This is most recently reflected in a recent Thrive at Work Workplace Wellbeing Foundation Award presented to the GRS Group for our commitment to improving the health and wellbeing of employees.

In 2018, GRS launched a powerful behavioural safety campaign aimed at employees, contractors and others working alongside GRS. Entitled “No Harm. Done.” the campaign emphasises that every person has the right and the responsibility to ensure no harm is caused to people, property or the environment.

The campaign is based on five essentials:

Look after yourself

Safe working is your priority. Keep your eyes and ears open to the risks around you – and stay out of harm’s way.

Look out for each other

Don’t walk by if you see something unsafe – intervene and make sure people are ok and aware of the risks.

Say what you see

Report near misses and unsafe situations. Share your ideas and give praise when things are done exceptionally well.

Take your time

Think smart before you start. If it doesn’t feel right don’t do it, even when you’re under pressure to finish the job.

Believe in zero harm

Together we will achieve zero harm – nobody should settle for less.
